Building AMIs

Deploying Rapyuta

  • Start an instance of your liking
    • Choose Ubunts Server (12.04/12.10 recommended) for most stuff, these are generally paravirtualised systems
    • Choose Ubuntu Server for HVM Instances (12.04/12.10 recommended) if you plan to use more powerful machines and have avx/i/ii support (require hvm)
  • Bonus** : Add the following line to the .bashrc
     source /opt/ros/<ros distro here>/setup.bash

Harden the Instance

  1. Install secure delete
     sudo apt-get install secure-delete
  1. Delete all the stuff in the ~/.ssh directory
     srm ~/.ssh/*
  1. Delete all the bash history
     srm ~/.bash_history
     srm /home/.bash_history

If you have not done anything unusual this should suffice , else revert any other changes you have done.
